The HOT List—Top Trends from ANUGA 2017November 3, 2017
Coconut water, gourmet ramen, poke bowls—that’s all so 2017. So what will be the next big thing in food and beverage? To find out before the rest of the world, associates from Daymon’s European Resource Center traveled to Cologne, Germany to attend the world’s largest food and drink trade fair—Allgemeine Nahrungs-und Genussmittel-Ausstellung (ANUGA). Held biannually, the event draws together over 7,000 exhibitors from more than 100 countries to showcase the most innovative ideas and up-and-coming flavors in the world of food and beverage.
According to Pedro Carmo, Director of Global Sourcing for Daymon, ANUGA is seen as one of the most important business platforms for the international food industry. At this year’s “Taste” show, nine categories of innovation were showcased, including meats, fine foods, bread & bakery, frozen foods, dairy, hot beverages and drinks. Carmo, along with Ricardo Agualusa Pires, Daymon Associate Business Manager – Global Sourcing, culled through the thousands of offerings on view to identify five products they believe could be among the hottest new trends for 2018 and beyond.
