February is the month of hearts—not only because of Valentine’s Day, but also because it’s American Heart Month! We all know that what you eat affects your heart health, but with so many new diets and supplements out there today, it can be hard to keep track of what’s really good for you and what’s just a passing fad. To help shoppers stay on the heart-healthy track, Sales Advisors can share these top three tips from the American Heart Association.

1. Eat a variety of healthy foods in the right amounts for your calorie needs. Focus on vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean poultry and fish, nuts and beans.

2. Cut back on highly-processed foods (like cured meats, condensed soups and seasoned rice mixes) and ditch the salt shaker. Season with herbs instead

3. Limit saturated and trans fat. Read nutrition labels. Choose liquid oils (like olive and canola) over solid fats (like butter or coconut oil).
