Environmental Sustainability
Daymon Worldwide’s Sustainability Initiative consists of three pillars, the first of which is Environmental. We encourage our associates to be “green” in their daily lives–at work, home and play. It is our goal to inspire every Daymon associate to live a more sustainable life and to respect the world around us.
We accomplish this through a dedicated department focused on education and knowledge-sharing to excite and motivate our people to go green. Efforts include weekly newsletter articles and tips on simple things we can all do to reduce our impact. Associates are encouraged to measure their carbon footprint and then track the changes they implement in their lifestyles to see whether this reduces their number. [SNAPOUT: A person’s carbon footprint represents, in tons, the amount of carbon that is released into the atmosphere as a result of their daily activities, such as driving, flying, and heating or cooling their homes.]
Daymon’s unique business model presents challenging opportunities in “greening” our office environments. In the Daymon Resource Center in Stamford, we are taking steps to reduce the amount of energy we use, reduce waste, and encourage “green” office practices. At our customer locations, each team institutes eco-friendly actions appropriate to their individual office environment to reduce their impact.
How do we accomplish this? Internal communication and education is key. We encourage all Daymon associates to take simple — yet meaningful — steps, such as recycling in their offices, turning off lights and computers when they leave, and thinking before they print documents or emails. We also ask associates to consider carpooling to work, if possible, and to consider alternatives to flying.
We have energy saving processes in place in the building…the heat and air conditioning units are set on timers to prevent being left on overnight, and light bulbs are energy efficient. We use green cleaning products, and are gearing up for more eco-friendly improvements every day.
Our Sustainability Task Force is made up of members from every level of the company ¬– from Management Development Associates to the President. This is a vehicle for knowledge sharing and networking among associates on a variety of subjects including green products, supplier relations, regulations and more.
